In the summer of 1973, children from Grandville United Methodist Church attend "Wesley Woods Music Camp", where they experienced the joy of ringing handbells. Through the generous and thoughtful gesture of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Williams, the first monies were given for a handbell fund. The three octave set of Schulmerick handbells was purchased in 1976. Three choirs were established in the following years: Fideles Nola (Faithful Little Bells) for the adult ringers, Joyful Bells for youth, and the Angelic Chimes for the smaller children. In the 1980s, two more octaves of bells were purchased, and in the summer of 1996, a three octave set of Malmark Choir Chimes made its way into the collection. Much of the equipment and music has been purchased with generous donations of church members. Love of church and music, combined with true dedication and service, has been the driving force behind the handbell program. Fideles Nola is under the musical direction of Nancy Summers-Meeusen, who has just completed her 16th year as conductor.
